The strategically located FOB Dwyer, in Garmsir, Helmand Province, provides vital combat and logistical support to troops operating in southern Helmand to drive out the Taliban as part of Task Force Helmand.
As British politicians emphasizing that the Taleban are losing the fight in southern Afghanistan the number of British soldiers killed in the country since 2001 reached 100. British troop numbers in Afghanistan will increase to a new high of more than 8,000 in 2008. The casualty rates for Britons serving in Afghanistan are now higher than those in Iraq.
